Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.”
― Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
What is Sustainable ?
Our mission is to create Tompkins County's center for change ... promoting local solutions for global challenges. We work to create a place where the community can come together to ask "what is sustainable?" and to learn the various ways that we can impact the well being of our beautiful planet.
The Sustainability Center is for
-Students wishing to become engaged in sustainability projects, internships or work-study jobs;
-Businesses and organizations that can benefit from the promotion of their green goods and services, as well as the assistance of local students interns;
-Residents who want to learn more about community sustainability efforts and become involved; and
-Visitors drawn to Tompkins County to experience local sustainability solutions for global problems.
